Meta has bought Conductor, a startup whose software lets developers run several AI agents at once in separate workspaces, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on November 4. Meta declined to disclose terms or discuss the deal further. Axios reported the transaction earlier.
Founder and chief executive Charlie Holtz announced the deal on the startup's blog on November 4, writing that "Conductor is joining Meta" and telling customers to expect a new product in early 2027. On X, Holtz said he would be working with Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, and Nat Friedman, product head at Meta's Superintelligence Labs.
Conductor was started in 2024 and released its main product in the summer of 2026. Its agent teams run in the cloud, on a local machine or from a phone, and rely on models from outside labs including Anthropic and OpenAI rather than its own. Holtz said existing features will keep working until early 2027, with one exception: the cloud service closes on November 20, after which stored user data will be deleted.
Meta released its own coding agent, Muse Code, in August 2026, and has said its Muse agents have passed 10 million users. Earlier purchases include the agent platform Moltbook.
