Dell Technologies founder and chief executive Michael Dell used his social media accounts to defend his wife, Susan Dell, after online commenters attacked her appearance following a White House appearance, ProtoThema English reported on October 13.
The criticism followed images from a Washington, DC, event at which the couple promoted Trump Accounts, savings accounts opened for US children under 18 who hold a Social Security number. Funds in the accounts are invested and cannot be withdrawn until the beneficiary turns 18. The program is also funded by the federal government, according to the report.
The Dells have committed $6.25 billion through their foundation to support 25 million children through the accounts, a pledge made in 2025. Several social media users said children in their families had already received $250 deposits; Michael Dell, 61, reshared those posts along with thank-you letters from children.
Eric Trump, a son of President Donald Trump, called the attacks on Susan Dell, 62, "disgusting" in a post on X and described the gift as among the largest private donations in US history.
Michael Dell started the computer company at age 19 with $1,000. He and Susan Dell married in 1989 and set up the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in 1999, focusing on children, education and social development. Forbes estimates cited in the report put his fortune near $300 billion.
