Owners In Honor, a Houston-based nonprofit that helps veterans and military families buy existing companies, said on Oct. 19, 2026, that it had received a $200,000 award under the Small Business Administration's fiscal 2026 pilot program for specialized training, Track II, administered by the agency's veterans business development office, according to a release distributed by PR Newswire.

The money will go toward expanding Buyers Basecamp, the group's acquisition-education and search-readiness program, which will be offered in coordination with the federal Veterans Business Outreach Center network. Over the grant period, the nonprofit plans to create a standardized readiness assessment, four training modules, candidate-management systems and a certification and tracking framework for participants. It is aiming to enroll 200 additional candidates.

The organization said it has so far enrolled 500 people in Buyers Basecamp, reached another 3,050 through events and education, and backed 11 completed business purchases by veterans.

"Veterans already carry the leadership, discipline, and sense of mission that small businesses need to thrive in their next chapter," said Patrick M. Flood, founder and chief executive of Owners In Honor.

Kevin Barber, assistant administrator of the SBA office that made the award, said the agency is working to reach veterans, service members and military spouses at different stages of starting or buying a business.

Owners In Honor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by veterans, with programs for buyers, operators and sellers of small businesses.
