Broadcom chief executive Hock Tan said on October 12 that investors in artificial intelligence are taking on gambling-like risk, speaking at the DBS Asia Future Forward Conference in Singapore alongside Intel's chief executive. Many AI investors "have no clue what they are investing in," Tan said, according to Bloomberg, as reported by Protos.

Tan's remarks came as Broadcom insiders cut their own holdings. Henry Samueli, a company co-founder and director who served as board chairman until June 2026, sold roughly $750 million of Broadcom shares over the course of 2026 across three Form 4 filings of about $250 million each: 781,967 shares in March, 654,241 shares in June and 702,190 shares in September, at weighted average prices of $319.71, $382.13 and $356.04. Tan sold 70,000 shares on January 6, 2026, for more than $24 million.

Broadcom stock has lagged the S&P 500 by 11 percentage points and the Nasdaq 100 by 18 points so far in 2026. In its third-quarter results, the company said AI semiconductors and data center infrastructure accounted for most of its revenue.
