Small business owners in Tallahassee can meet directly with government agencies at the Small Business Exchange on October 15, part of Big Bend Enterprise Development Week, WTXL ABC 27 reported.
The session is scheduled at the Augustus B. Turnbull Conference Center in Tallahassee. Organizers said 11 exhibitors will attend to explain procurement programs and discuss bids that are coming up, giving owners a view of how contracts are awarded and what competing for them involves.
LaTanya Raffington, chair of Big Bend Enterprise Development Week, said finding capital and securing loans remain among the harder problems for small firms in the area. The exchange is set up for one-on-one conversations, so owners can raise specific questions and learn about support programs available to them, according to the outlet.
Contracts with public agencies and large institutions can open a new revenue line for small companies, but owners have to locate the solicitations and understand the bidding process first — the gap the event is intended to close.
