An Amazon account setting that lists the traits the retailer infers about its customers drew wide attention on October 6, 2026, after a shopper posted about finding that Amazon had concluded she "has flat buttocks," TechCrunch reported.

The customer, posting on Threads under the handle @fangirlinmegan, said she came across a page of assumptions Amazon had drawn from her purchases and was "literally speechless." Other entries were more routine, including that she shops from women's departments and probably owns a Shark robot vacuum. She said the body-shape inference likely stemmed from buying butt scrunch leggings, according to TechCrunch. The post passed a million views in less than a day.

The list sits inside Amazon's account settings. On desktop, shoppers can reach it through Account, then "Your Shopping preferences," then "Manage your information." On the mobile app, it is under Account, Shopping preferences, then "About you."

TechCrunch staff said their own profiles flagged interests such as photography, collectible card games and vinyl records, most of them accurate.
