SurveyMonkey reported that 63% of respondents to its latest research said they would be willing to use artificial intelligence for at least some mental health services, according to Small Business Trends.

The survey also found that 37% of respondents preferred human support over AI, a split the research firm framed as a question of where people accept technology and where they want a person involved.

Small Business Trends said the findings carry implications for owners in wellness and health-related fields, which could use AI chatbots or automated tools for initial screenings, follow-ups and analysis of customer feedback while keeping trained professionals available for more personal interactions.

The report also flagged privacy and ethical risks, noting that businesses deploying AI in mental health settings must comply with data protection rules given the sensitivity of the conversations involved.

"AI-enabled support can enhance the services that small businesses provide, offering scalable solutions that cater to evolving mental health needs," a SurveyMonkey spokesperson said.
