Colorado Springs, Colorado, was named the best US city for small business owners in a ranking released by the small business banking platform Bluevine on October 15, 2026, according to a company announcement distributed by PR Newswire.
The inaugural list named 15 metro areas. Colorado was the only state with three entries: Colorado Springs first, Denver second and Greeley 12th. Nine of the 15 winners rank below 30th in US population, the company said.
Bluevine said it drew on federal figures covering business survival rates, business formation and the cost of operating, combined with its own year-over-year banking figures, across the 100 metro areas where it has the most customers. Government survival data carried 25% of the weight, growth metrics 25%, cost measures 20% and Bluevine's internal metrics 30%, with metros penalized for finishing in the bottom half of any category.
In Colorado Springs, Bluevine account openings rose 133% from a year earlier and average balances climbed 54%, the company said.
"Being recognized as the No. 1 city in America for small business is an incredible honor," said Yemi Mobolade, mayor of Colorado Springs.
Bluevine, based in Jersey City, New Jersey, is a financial technology company; its banking services are provided by Coastal Community Bank.
