Reese Witherspoon is reacquiring Hello Sunshine, the production company she founded in 2016, in a deal with the French media group Mediawan announced on October 13, according to Just Jared.
Witherspoon is investing alongside Mediawan, which will add Hello Sunshine to its portfolio of film and television businesses. The purchase price was not disclosed. The deal comes five years after Witherspoon sold a controlling stake to Candle Media in a transaction that valued Hello Sunshine at roughly $900 million.
Witherspoon called the partnership a return home and said Mediawan's emphasis on creators lined up with her own approach, according to the report. Hello Sunshine co-founder Seth Rodsky will join the board along with Witherspoon and representatives of Mediawan.
Hello Sunshine develops projects built around women's stories and its credits include "Big Little Lies," "The Morning Show" and "Little Fires Everywhere." It also operates Reese's Book Club, which has generated several book-to-screen adaptations. The tie-up with Mediawan is expected to give the company access to a wider international network.
