Oracle said it is investing in new wind power projects in Texas that will provide more than 1.7 gigawatts of carbon-free electricity, Small Business Trends reported on October 8, 2026. The projects are expected to generate enough electricity each year to power more than 525,000 homes. Mahesh Thiagarajan, who serves as executive vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said, "Oracle has set a goal to match 100 percent of AI data center electricity use with carbon-free electricity by 2035." Oracle said the investment is meant to cut the carbon footprint of its own operations and of the broader Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid, which many Texas businesses rely on for power. The company estimated the projects will cut about 1.8 million metric tons of carbon emissions each year.
