Berkshire Hathaway is putting a further $330 million into Bending Spoons, the Milan-based owner of AOL, Evernote and Vimeo, lifting its holding to 4%, the technology company said on October 14, according to Billionaires.Africa.
Bending Spoons is selling Berkshire 10 million newly created ordinary shares at $33 apiece through a private placement, with closing subject to customary conditions and additional disclosure to be made to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchase follows the $600 million Berkshire committed at the company's July initial public offering, taking its total outlay to close to $930 million and making it the sixth-largest shareholder, Reuters reported, citing LSEG data.
Shares traded on the Nasdaq under BSP rose 48.8% to $56.33 on October 14, after closing at $37.86 the day before, Benzinga reported, meaning Berkshire's purchase price is roughly 13% below the prior close.
The deal falls under Greg Abel, who took over as Berkshire chief executive at the start of 2026; Warren Buffett, 96, is still chairman.
Bending Spoons buys mature apps and websites, trims costs and rebuilds their products. It has acquired more than 50 businesses, including AOL for $1.45 billion in 2025, and agreed on September 10 to buy Miro for $1.355 billion.
